How to use this pack
- 1
Print the cards
Print on plain paper, or card stock if you have it. Set your printer to “Actual size” (100%), not “Fit to page,” so the cut lines line up.
- 2
Cut along the dashed lines
Each card has a dashed border. Cut them out (a parent job) and, if you like, laminate or cover with clear tape so they survive small hands.
- 3
Show a card, make the shape
Hold up a letter. Read the pose out loud and make the shape together. Approximations count — the goal is connecting movement to letters, not perfect poses.
- 4
Add the letter sound
While holding each pose, chant the sound: “T says tuh, tuh, T.” This bridges movement to phonemic awareness, the skill that connects letters to reading.
Printing on a home printer?
Choose Ink-light at the top before printing for a black-and-white-friendly version that keeps costs down. Cards and poses stay exactly the same, just easier on the ink.

Make it work for any age
Ages 2–3
Try the freeze-dance version with music. Movement matters more than accuracy. Stick to I, T, X, and O and celebrate any shape attempt.
Ages 3–4
The sweet spot. Add letter sounds while forming each shape to build phonemic awareness, and start spelling short words together.
Ages 5–6
Ready for spelling words, team letters, and a spotlight show where one child performs while others guess. Try uppercase and lowercase.
Four ways to play in a group
- Spelling relay: teams form one letter each in sequence; the other team guesses the word.
- Letter bingo: call a letter, everyone makes the shape, then marks it on a card.
- Name challenge: each child spells their own name one letter at a time.
- Brain break: call three letters between tasks, freeze in each for five seconds. Under two minutes, resets focus.
